...with my mind on my money and my money on my mind (Lyrics from Musical Artist: Snoop Doggy Dogg, Album: Doggystyle, Song: Gin and Juice) Your Money? My Money? What Money? Money and the Economy are an important, even sensitive subject these days in the United States. Currently a minority of citizens have an abundance of money, while the majority of people do not have enough of it. Now in 2003, investors and consumers don’t appear to be participating in the stock market or purchasing products as the government has projected. Neither rich citizens nor average Americans are parting with their money. Looking at Astrology can shed light on financial situations. Let’s examine the importance and significance of the Second House and the Eighth House in a Natal (Birth) Chart. PART 1
The Second House The Second House is one of the 12 Astrological Houses and is associated with the sign of Taurus, which represents the throat and the ears. In a Natal (Birth) Chart, the 2nd House (referred to as the Money House) really concerns material goods, possessions, money, values, resources, self-esteem, talent, earning capacity, field of prosperity, etc,. Budget, assets, earning, monetary prospects and purchasing power are indicated. The second house always refers to how we secure ourselves, the kind of response we get from life and those around us to who and what we are. People in the company who handle money are important in a business chart. Checking the Second House, the planets that inhabit it, and the planets that form aspects to it during planetary transits, can be of great assistance. America’s Second House Take the United States as an entity, for example. Do you remember when the U.S. government and administration was about to change? Well, back on January 19, 2001, the US’s chart indicated problems with the current Moon in Sagittarius (in the 2nd House) opposing birth Uranus in Gemini (in the 8th House) on 1/19/01. The message at that time was that there were challenges to a nonconforming attitude in some situation which resulted in opposition and blockage. It was not a good time for America to try new things or break away from the old routine. Furthermore, the country’s surroundings worked against it. The next day on January 20, the Sagittarius Moon (in the 2nd House birth chart) also opposed Mars in Gemini (in the current 8th House). For the country circumstances conspired to cause irritation or emotion energy. There was much anger in the air at the time, making it difficult to remain calm and within control. These aspects formed between the planets in the birth chart and current planets continued throughout 2001. If you recall, financial problems and multitudinous layoffs were emerging more and more for many American residents. My The House in my Chart
Back on February 4, 1981, when the transiting Aquarius Sun Opposed my natal Venus in Leo, my message was that someone I love is likely to be highly emotional now, and this can be a strain me you to handle. Things I own tend to need repair or in some other way turn out to cost me more than I thought was reasonable. By and large, that was not a good time to make important financial decisions. How true that was, since my ex-husband I had just split up. My own financial problems have been pointed out in my chart. On March 13, 2001 the Scorpio Moon (in the 5th House at that time) was Square my Leo in Pluto in my birth chart (in the 2nd House). The message to me was that I may find myself at odds with those around me or with my life situation regarding issues of great sensitivity. They were very personal in nature. I had difficulties, blocks, and all manner of hot spots. With those planetary aspects, I wound up being laid off from my job, effective at the end of the month.
Blasting back to the past, on January 20, 1981, there was a period of time when I was so lucky that I kept playing the numbers and winning!! I was having such a good time that I did not consult the stars during that period. Later after researching my winning streak, I noticed that the luck began when the Leo Moon at that time, entered my Leo in the 2nd House of my birth chart. The relationship of those planets suggested to me that I would have a greater appreciation for things of value at that time. It would be a period of great material gain; certainly a time when material things had a great deal of importance to me. In reality I was on a roll. I won money again at the time the current Moon transited my Leo 2nd House again on February 17, 1981.
Amazingly I had connected with a group which showed me how to expand my life and my goals, when the current Moon (in the 2nd House) in Leo was Conjunct the Pluto in Leo of my birth chart (in the 2nd House) on February 17, 1981. That relationship of planets told me that a deep and penetrating analysis, particularly with a group or in relation to your situation, may be in order. And so it was! Additional ideas were that others would seek me out for my psychological insight and understanding and that could be a time to make changes in my environment. On February 15th I moved into an new apartment after releasing a toxic energy (a husband) from my life. My entire financial situation was altered, but I was looking forward to new adventures, nonetheless. Martha Stewart’s Second House
In recent months, the media has inundated us news about Martha Stewart. I searched and discovered Martha Stewart’s current financial problems in the comparison of her Birth Chart and the current planets. For example, on May 17, 2003 the current Moon in Sagittarius (in the 2nd House) Opposed her Jupiter in Gemini (in the 8th House). The message to Martha was that it was not perhaps the best time to make important decisions that affect her living situation or life circumstances. Others may challenge her authority or the direction she was taking. Events could conspire to make it difficult for her to act. Ms. Stewart’s life seemed to parallel this astrological advice earlier this year! Later during the month, the current Pisces Moon (in the 5th House) Squared her birth Sagittarius Moon (in the 2nd House) where she may have felt blocked or may have felt blocked or frustrated emotionally by someone or by her own life situation in general. She might have felt that some avenues of support had been cut off or blocked. Arguments of an emotional kind might have been easy to find. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s Second House
The stars and planets knew that Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton was going to be financially successful. On March 12, 2003 with the transiting Moon in Cancer placed in the 2nd House of her Birth Chart the message was that she would have a greater appreciation for things of value (and the idea of value itself) is in order now. This could be a period of great material gain; it is certainly a time when material things would have a great deal of importance for her. The same planetary aspects appeared on April 8, 2003 an May 6, 2003. As Senator Clinton’s best selling book was climbing the charts, on June 03, 2003 the current Moon in Cancer was Trine the Mercury in Scorpio. Her message which we witnessed in action via television and other media was that she could be most persuasive with others, and eloquent in speech and communication. Further, the situation is a natural for self-expression and lends itself to her particular ideas and thoughts. A good conversation with those you love was possible. Subsequently on July 2, 2003, the current Cancer in Mercury entered her 2nd House of Cancer which communicated to her that financial savvy and a practical turn of mind are qualities that took on greater importance in your life then. She was a wheeler-dealer, with a knack for knowing how to put people, ideas, and things together profitably. Playing the role of a facilitator could be rewarding to Senator Clinton.
