Education - J. P. graduated from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY with a BFA Degree in 1967. In 1990 she took courses at the New York Institute of Technology towards a Masters Degree in Training and Learning Technology. | ||
After Graduation - After graduation, J. P. worked as a caseworker for the New York Department of Social Services from 1967 to 1969. | ||
Shifting Gears - Deciding to move in another direction, J. P. worked at the New York Department of Social Services, as a counselor, where she taught and introduced young women to New York culture until 1972. Then from 1973 to 1975, she worked as a tutor/instructor at Medgar Evers College. | ||
The Lighthouse - In another enriching experience, J. P. Garcia taught blind and visually impaired people at the New York Association for the Blind (the Queens Lighthouse) from 1975 to 1984. The interest in computers was sparked and developed in 1982, while working at the Queens Lighthouse. | ||
Moving Forward - From 1984 to 1991, J. P. Garcia trained users on computers and how to use up-to-date popular and proprietary software, and provided software support in corporate and educational environments. | ||
Resourceful Consulting - The period from 1991 to the present has proven to be very exciting. J. P. Garcia really enjoyed functioning as a computer training consultant in various New York City companies and firms, by training PC users on standard and customized software applications, while expanding her technological expertise. | ||
Comprehensive Training - The past recipients of computer training, included individuals in their homes, individuals and groups in their offices, law firms, banks and corporations, as well as students at Brooklyn College, Medgar Evers College, various New York City business schools. | ||
